Con WrapUp

  • Jade gives a synopsis (and a little bit of snarking) about Gallifrey 2013.
  • Sandy talks about dumping a Lanaster in her DundraCon Game of Thrones LARP
  • And España discusses her work with the Chinese New Year's Parade in San Francisco
There was also a post-con wrap-up for Stitches West 2013, but at that point, the girls realized that they were over their allotted time frame (and didn't want to subject you...their listeners) to 1.5 hours of them gabbing, so please stay tuned for Episode 35 coming up shortly!

BookClub Thunderdome

So, what's the first rule of bookclub? You don't talk about bookclub! In this segment, the girls duke it out over what book should be read for bookclub. They each have brought a list:
  • Sandy:
    • The Night Circus, by Erin Morgenstern,
    • Shades of Milk and Honey, by Mary R. Kowal,
    • Old Man’s War by John Scalzi
  • España:
    • Shades of Milk and Honey, by Mary R. Kowal,
    • Mr Penumbra’s 24 Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan,
    • 2312 Kim Stanley Robinson
  • Jade:
    • The B-Team (John Scalzi),
    • Dodger (Terry Pratchet),
    • The Native Star ( MK Hobson)
And the winner? A completely different book! Throne of the Crescent Moon (Crescent Moon Kingdoms) (To hear'll just have to listen)

The girls decided to put these in some sort of order, instead of limiting it to just one book, and reading the ones that had the most interest:
  1. Throne of the Crescent Moon
  2. Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore: A Novel
  3. Dodger
  4. The Native Star
In addition, España & Sandy will be reading and doing a review for the podzine of Shades of Milk and Honey

After the dust had settled about books, the girls talk about the upcoming Superman series, with one particular author in mind....Orson Scott Card.

Get Crafty

There hasn't been much knitting as of late:
  • Sandy is trying to get her Javasocks done in time for DDC to give them to a friend.
  • Jade is working on a fair isle mittens for someone's birthday, and ran into all sorts of trouble, requiring her to reknit the 2nd mitten.

Make it Sew!

The reason why Jade hasn't been knitting is that she's been sewing up bags, bags, and more bags!

España talks about her latest crafting obsessions dealing with ALL THINGS PAPER!
